Wardourfest 2019 is all about making Soho feel good – from our chilled out floral garden upstairs to live music five nights a week down in the Restaurant and Club. On Wednesdays, Wardourfest Presents… is a showcase of our favourite up and coming artists showcasing a mix of original work and covers of crowd pleasing favourites. This week, Riva performs.
She is known for her startlingly deep, expressive contralto vocals and the inclusion of an eclectic mix of musical genres within her repertoire, including soul, dance, pop, jazz, and rhythm and blues.
She boasts a wealth of performance experience for someone so young, having first studied music at the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford which trained the likes of Ed Sheeran among others.
Returning to London after a successful tour abroad, she went into the studio to begin work on an original project alongside music industry legend Tom Misner, penning songs with song writing veterans Steve Lillywhite (U2, Oasis) and Stuart Crichton (Kesha, Selena Gomez, Katie Perry) on an exclusive song writing retreat in Montenegro, curated by LA publishing house Milk & Honey.
Riva’s debut EP was recorded at the internationally renowned Abbey Road Studios by drum and bass producer Wickaman, and signed to London based independent label, Fame Music.
Heralded by UK paper The Mirror as “set for UK stardom after taking Ibiza by storm” with her first single, she set off on a national radio tour to promote her upcoming record, followed a whirlwind of festivals and events – including several crowds of 50,000 at the Sundown Music Festival alongside Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, and Chase & Status.
Drawing artistic inspiration from Sade, Shakira, Amy Winehouse and Adele, Riva’s is a voice that consistently melts audiences and defies expectation.
Our Evening Standard menus are back this summer and you can enjoy 3 courses and a glass of bubbles for £30 in the Club.
