Thursday 5th May features The Get Up in anticipation of their 2016 vinyl release of their single Gold Digger released by Our Label Records (Germany).
The Get up’s unique sound can be attributed, not only to their influences – Booker T, Charles Earland, Brian Auger, Eddie Russ and many of those rare funk 45’s from the 50s and 60s; also to the list of bands that the members have worked with – The James Taylor Quartet, Brand New Heavies, Reuben Wilson, Sir Joe Quarterman and Funkshone among them. Add to this the band’s dedication to an authentic, raw funk sound favouring real Hammond organ, analogue recording equipment, soulful vocals and hip horn arrangements and it’s easy to see why The Get up are packing out venues up and down the country, popping out your radio on a weekly basis, and delighting club DJ’s with their break-laden funk workouts!
