100 Wardour St Presents Monday Marquee with August

WHEN: 01-01-1970

Join us every week for Monday Marquee, harking back to our heritage as the Marquee Club and bringing you amazing artists live in the lounge from 6.45pm.

AUGUST is the solo project of London based singer-songwriter Steve Hughes.
Crafting a mix of dreamy electro pop and brooding gospel influences, Hughes kicks
off 2018 with the announcement that he will be releasing a new song on the last
Friday of every month. Today, he drops his first new single ‘TORN’.

‘TORN’ brings together gospel roots with hip-hop samples and ambient electronics,
showcasing Hughes’s powerhouse vocals, all wrapped up in an infectiously euphoric
chorus and electro-synth beats. Speaking of the track, he says, “TORN is the simple
song of a soul trying to sing itself free.”

With each release so far, AUGUST has presented his gift for anthemic songwriting
and ambitious lyrics. His singles ‘GHOSTS’, ‘HEAL’ and ‘1000 SUNS’ were
championed by a wealth of tastemakers across the UK, as well as radio support from
BBC Introducing and BBC 6 MUSIC.

The inspiration behind the moniker, AUGUST, came from an old song Hughes wrote
of the same name, and it was also the month he started working on this collection of
songs. Hughes has supported the likes of 21 Pilots, Jack Garratt and Walk The Moon,
with more live shows to be announced in early 2018.
